The Union Street Central Open for Business campaign is an initiative to reassure people that local shops and businesses are open as usual during the major improvement works.
During these works people will still be able to travel into the city centre and will still have access as normal to the shops and premises located in the works area. Car parks are open and accessible although routes may vary at times for operational reasons.
Delivery vehicles, taxis and cyclists can access Union Street Central travelling one-way only from the Union Bridge. Buses will not have access to Union Street Central during the works and will run on Bridge Street and Market Street.
The works are being carried out between the Market Street and Bridge Street junctions to make the area even more attractive and vibrant and create a plaza pavement entrance for the new market building.
Business owners and traders are already throwing their weight behind the Aberdeen City Council led campaign, which will promote shops and businesses and will run for the duration of the improvement works until completion in 2025.
